The Burns "High Oats" ("Alta Aveia") is high in fibre, low in both fat and protein and is suitable for the diabetic dog. It is highly digestible which also means that the dog can feel satisfied by a small volume of food.
Specialist foods are often high in cellulose (an indigestible plant material - sometimes obtained from recycled newspaper!) and is an expensive way of producing faeces.
