Joint and Mobility Problems

Many dogs suffer from joint problems as they get older - some, those which may be unlucky enough to have hip dysplasia inherited from their parents - usually caused by breeding from unsuitable parents by irresponsible breeders - can show mobility difficulty from an early age.
If you are buying a puppy then please ensure that Hip Dysplasia is not a common genetic problem in the breed and that the parents have been "hip scored" if it is. You should check the documentation for the parents.

Of course we can suggest the use one of our product range - Joint Aid - this "sprinkle on" food supplement includes the glucosamine and chondroitin in therapeutic quantities (which is higher than the amounts included in so called mobility foods even from large manufacturers).

Our Old English Sheepdog - Chloe - has hip dysplasia but this only causes problems for her if we forget the Joint Aid for a few days - otherwise she runs around without any problem.
We have also had remarkable results reported by our clients - one, who had a Labrador that could hardy walk, took a free sample and came back 3 days later to announce that her dog was now jumping on the bed!

Check here for an explanation of Hip Dysplasia and the causes etc.

Arthritis is another nasty cause of mobility problems - it is well worth trying the Joint Aid but results very much depend on the stage of deterioration the joint has reached.

In some cases the suggested "cure" is that the actual ball joint itself will be cut off. In this event the muscles are used to control the limb and keep it in place - and there will be no joint to actually lubricate but the muscles will need to be built up and maintained in a strong condition - in this case we would recommend the Applaws dry dog food because it has 75% Chicken (approx 70% Chicken Meat by DRY weight) and the use of a food with a high meat based protein level will help the pet grow and maintain strong muscles.

A very interesting set of calculations have been carried out based on prices at 3rd March 2011 for a labrador with knee displasia:
Using Royal Canin Mobility Support + Omnicondro would cost approximately 90€ per month
Using Burns High Oats + Dorwest Glucosamine & Chondroitin would cost approximatley 50€ per month

On 16th September 2011:-
The cost for providing Joint Aid for a 20Kg dog is around 0,46€ per day whereas with Yumove it would cost around 0,73€ per day (and that is a special offer price!).
