Paws 4 Pets is a family business born out of the need to obtain top quality foods, treats and supplements for our own pets.

We get really annoyed with the claims for, and ingredients of, the majority of pet foods on the market.
Despite stringent legalities, ingredient lists routinely get massaged and manipulated to make many foods look better than they really are.
Unfortunately it takes a fair bit of investigating to determine what is really behind the ingredients and the majority of pet owners do not have the time to do these checks and are persuaded by expensive marketing campaigns, professional advice or simply apparently low prices into purchasing foods that are not what they are made out to be.

Cheap foods are generally bulked out with cereals of one sort or another - in some cases you need to feed 3 times as much to get the same nutrition that is available with a more expensive bag of food.

High Protein levels are very often quoted which are based on the "Crude Protein" that is included - where a lot of the protein contained in the food is made up from plant materials which do not provide complete amino acids as required by your pet.

We have researched our range of food products in great depth and are satisfied that they provide the right nutrition at the right price for you pet. If your product is not stocked by us then we would suggest that you should investigate the ingredients in detail for yourselves.
In addition the products are tested on our own pets (currently 7 dogs and 3 cats) and we have been extremely impressed with the results.

Our first shop was opened in Silves, about 6 months after we moved permanently to Portugal, because we could not find an acceptable food on sale in Portugal for our own pets and we have grown year on year. We outgrew the shop in Silves and opened a new one near Albufeira in August 2008. Business was so brisk that we closed the Silves shop so that we could concentrate on our many new customers.
